   collapse

not a monkey but a village
perches on her back –

dogged legs tremble.

she marches on,
as others march on her.

if she should stumble for one day
would they lift her up –

support her?

or dumbly trod on matted hair,
noticing the weakness -

seeing only that a bridge collapsed,
while searching for another?
