   sunshine

living is none of her business;

she has no idea how stunning
life looks under her gaze,

how morning glories sway
each dawn just to touch her -

the way birds come to life,
croon hope when she wakes.

she doesn’t know
her own brilliance

her sparkle
her shine.

she simply exists,
as do we -

the sun and mankind;
equally dim.
